Cook Teams

KCBS Sanctioned Back Yard Event to be held in conjunction with the West Alabama State Fair November 1-2, 2019

Sokol Park Multi-use Complex, Tuscaloosa, AL 

Entry Fee:  $200 (20x30 site - no electricity or water)

NO RV HOOKUP AVAILABLE!

Awards and Cash Prizes totaling $2,950:  Grand Champion - $1,000; Reserve Champion - $500; 1st - $300; 2nd - $200; 3rd - $100; 4th - $75;  5th - $50 for chicken and ribs.

Team check in 2-5 pm on 11/1 (Friday) or 7-8 am on 11/2 (Saturday)

Cook Meeting:  Friday at 5 pm 

Meat inspections upon arrival  ***Note*** Meats may be trimmed prior to inspections.  The meat cannot be seasoned or injected prior to meat inspections.  Meat can only be cooked with charcoal, wood or wood pellets.  ONCE THE MEAT HAS BEEN INSPECTED IT MUST STAY ON SITE - if you are staying overnight at another location, then your meat must remain in your cook site.  You may begin cooking anytime after inspection.

Team check-in begins: 2:00 pm (Check-ins earlier than 2:00 pm or later than 5:00 pm must be coordinated with the team organizer prior to arrival)

Meat inspection upon arrival or at team’s convenience. Turn in boxes will be handed out as teams arrive.

Team set-up and check-in closes 5:00 pm

Cooks Meeting at the judging building 5:00 pm

Quiet time 11:00 pm

West Alabama State Fair 6:00 pm – 12:00 am

 

Saturday, November 2, 2019

Team set up and check-in resumes 7:00 am

Meat inspection upon arrival 

Any remaining turn-in boxes will be handed out

Team set-up and check-in closes 8:00 am

Judges check-in opens 9:00 am

Mandatory judges meeting 10:30 am

Chicken turn-in 12:00 pm

Ribs turn-in 12:30 pm

Awards 2:00 pm

West Alabama State Fair 1:00 pm – 12:00 am
